More than 200 people marched through downtown Syracuse on Oct. 13 in support of freeing Palestine and ending the United States’ aid to Israel.

On Oct. 7, Hamas attacked Israel, killing more than 1,000 people — including many civilians. Israel responded by bombing the Gaza Strip, leading to thousands more civilian deaths.

Israel then cut off food, water and electricity to Gaza. Israel has reportedly signaled it may pursue a ground war inside Gaza.

In a handout distributed at the march by the Party for Socialism and Liberation, the group said it is marching for a free Palestine and to end aid to Israel.

Since World War II, the United States has given $158 billion in aid to Israel, according to the Congressional Research Service.
