Central Current’s election coverage is supported in part by the Health Foundation for Western and Central New York.
On Thursday, Oct. 23, our newsroom staff will interview candidates running in this year’s Syracuse mayoral race as part of our Current Conversations series.
The event will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Everson Museum’s Hosmer Auditorium. Please take a moment to reserve your seat today.
All candidates who have an approved ballot line will be invited, including Sharon Owens, Thomas Babilon, Tim Rudd and Alfonso Davis.
An election is not a single day event: rather, it is an ongoing process of conversation, education, and questioning that should ultimately bring community members together over shared goals and shared frustrations. Reading about candidates and watching them on your screens is important, but there is a special quality to joining your neighbors shoulder to shoulder and hearing Syracuse’s next mayor speak directly to you about their vision.
We hope you will not only join us for the event, but also help by inviting your friends to participate along with you.
The forum is free and open to the public, and audience members will also have an opportunity to submit questions ahead of time for the candidates to answer. It will not be livestreamed, however a video recording of the event will be made available.
This event is designed to help voters prepare for the general election, which will be held Nov. 4, 2025. Early voting will begin Oct. 25. This page will be updated as more details become available. By registering, you will also receive our election coverage and other reporting from Central Current delivered for free to your inbox.
What are Current Conversations?
When we started Central Current in 2022, we made it part of our mission to engage with our local community. We’ve always focused our reporting on what matters most to Central New Yorkers. As we continue to grow our staff and our coverage, we’re also working to create new ways for our readers to connect with our team. We want to better understand which topics interest you and what information you need to know, so we can publish more meaningful stories.
To that end, Current Conversations brings you face-to-face with the people and issues shaping our city and region. These ongoing events are an opportunity to:
- Hear from local guest speakers
- Connect with other readers
- Engage with our journalists
- Learn about our reporting process
Can’t make it?
We’ll publish coverage of the event as well as a recording and transcript. To stay informed:
- Sign up for our newsletter, and
- Follow us on social media. You can find us on Facebook, X, Instagram, and LinkedIn as Central Current.
