The race between Mark Olson and Carrie Ingersoll-Wood for the 10th district Onondaga County Legislature seat is among the tightest this election cycle.

Olson leads Ingersoll-Wood by 46 votes, according to unofficial results from the Onondaga County Board of Elections. He has 3,846 votes to Ingersoll-Wood’s 3,800.

Board of Elections Commissioner Dustin Czarny said the race is headed for a recount. A recount is triggered when the margin between candidates is less than .5% of the vote total.

The district Olson and Ingersoll-Wood are vying to represent includes the town of Manlius and the villages of Fayetteville and Minoa.

Ingersoll-Wood said Tuesday night she had not conceded and was going to let the vote counting play out.

The Onondaga County Board of Elections will have to count more absentee ballots and also wait to see if any currently unreturned absentee ballots arrive in the coming days.

If Ingersoll-Wood comes back to beat Olson, it would be the only district to change party hands this election cycle. Republicans have had an 11-6 advantage in the legislature. Twelve of the races for legislature seats were uncontested.

  • 2nd district: Kevin Meaker, Republican and Conservative (uncontested)
  • 3rd district: Timothy Burtis, Republican and Conservative (uncontested)
  • 4th district: Colleen Gunnip, Republican (uncontested)
  • 5th district: Debra Cody, Republican (uncontested)
  • 6th district: Incumbent Julie Abbott, Republican and People First Party, leads Blake Carter, Democrat, by about 1,222 votes, according to unofficial board of elections results. That gives Abbott a lead of about 15 percentage points.
  • 7th district: Dan Romeo, Democrat, leads Josh Davis, People First Party, by about 2,153 votes, according to unofficial board of elections results. That gives Romeo a lead of about 50 percentage points.
  • 8th district: Christopher Ryan, Democrat (uncontested)
  • 9th district: Palmer Harvey, Democrat and Working Families Party (uncontested)
  • 10th district: Incumbent Mark Olson, Republican and Conservative, leads Carrie Ingersoll-Wood, Democrat and Working Families Party, by 46 votes, good for a lead of less than one percentage point.
  • 11th district: Richard McCarron, Republican and Conservative (uncontested)
  • 12th district: Incumbent David Knapp, Republican, leads Sunny Aslam, Democrat, by 1,429 votes, good for a lead of more than 20 percentage points.
  • 13th district: Kenneth Bush, Republican and Conservative (uncontested)
  • 14th district: Cody Kelly, Republican and Conservative (uncontested)
  • 15th district: Maurice Mo Brown, Democrat and Working Families Party, leads Mo Moodie, People First Party, by 3,249 votes, good for a lead of more than 80 percentage points.
  • 16th district: Charles Garland, Democrat (uncontested)
  • 17th district: Nodesia Hernandez, Democrat (uncontested)
