You might have noticed that Central Current has been trying something new lately: We’ve doubled our newsletter output.

In the beginning of August, Central Current began sending out two newsletters each week, with one titled “One Big Story” and the other “Staying Current.” In any given week, we hope to send out “Staying Current” on Wednesday or Thursday and “Staying Current” on Saturday or Sunday.

The goal of each newsletter is a little different. “One Big Story” is a longer, more in-depth story that you can enjoy with your coffee on a lazy morning. “Staying Current” is meant to deliver the news of the week quickly and clearly, so you don’t miss a thing.

Central Current’s coverage has developed a lot over the last year, and we want to make sure our newsletter reflects that. Our team has grown in size and our reporters have enhanced their skill sets since we began publishing in 2022. We now have three full-time reporters who break news and hold Central New York’s institutions accountable. Contributor Eddie Velazquez adds valuable politics and housing coverage. Columnist Sean Kirst has boosted our culture coverage, and we have steadily added contributors who cover Syracuse’s arts and culture scene.

We believe this cadence also keeps make our reporting more accessible and top of mind. Our reporters and I are cognizant of how busy you are and how easy it is to miss out on important information.

Thank you for taking your time to read our coverage. Time is a valuable resource, and we appreciate each bit that you give us.

Best,

Chris Libonati, managing editor
