Carleigh Sibaja, 9, of Syracuse, middle, took a moment to pray during a moment of silence at the Eastwood Memorial Day ceremony and wreath laying at the Greenway Veterans’ Memorial Park Monday.
At left is her friend and fellow Eastwood cheerleader, Rilee Gordon, 8, of Syracuse. Behind her is her aunt, Crystal Bell, of Syracuse, and at right is her mom, Nicole Ibrahim, also of Syracuse.
The ceremony followed a parade, which began at American Legion Post 1276, 102 Nichols Ave., and ended at 2309 James Street at the park.
“It’s important to teach our kids about holidays and history,” said Bell, Carleigh’s aunt.
