Despite the rain, rose lovers showed up in good numbers to smell the flowers at the annual Rose Day on June 14 at the E.M. Mills Memorial Rose Garden in Thornden Park.
The event is hosted by the Syracuse Department of Parks and Recreation and the Syracuse Rose Society. Founded in 1911, the Syracuse Rose Society is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promote, educate and celebrate the world of roses. The Mills garden is home to 3,500 rose bushes, plus 300-350 varieties of roses.
