Jazz Central this weekend welcomes Syracuse residents to enjoy the melodic sounds of jazz by American tenor saxophonist Ricky Ford.
Ford, a jazz musician for more than four decades, is making his second trip to Syracuse Friday at 7:30 p.m. to the 441 E. Washington St. venue while on a musical tour throughout the Northeast.
Ford’s long lasting career is credited to his musical work alongside legendary musical acts including Duke Ellington band, Charles Mingus, Freddie Hubbard, and Lionel Hamptoon, among myriad other famous musicians.
He will be accompanied by an all-star musical group including, pianist John Kordalewski, bassist Tony Marino, and drummer Thurman Barker.
An expatriate living in Paris for over 30 years, Ford’s first visit and performance in Syracuse was in 2021, where he performed a sold out show at Jazz Central.
