Sam Rowser is supporting Central Current because he believes in openness and transparency. He advocates for more local journalism that tells the truth, the whole story, and addresses disparities in ways that traditional media outlets haven’t.

Rowser is executive director of On Point for College, a nationally recognized nonprofit organization that provides first-generation college students vital support services to access higher education and ensure their educational attainment. On Point has helped over 11,600 young people from Syracuse, Utica, New York City and other counties in Central New York to enroll in and succeed in college.

Rowser served in the United States’ Marine Corps, and then dedicated his life’s work to helping underserved youth earn college degrees. Prior to joining On Point as its first hire, Rowser was an admissions counselor with Onondaga Community College for 12 years and a career development specialist at Southwest Community Center in Syracuse.
