Pump Track SYR opened this week, after years of community planning, to riders of all ages.

The city’s new BMX track officially opened on Sunday with a competition, raffle and art market.

The track is adjacent to the Lipe Art Park at 1002 W. Fayette St. It was funded by TNT of Syracuse and built by community volunteers over the last five years.

The pump track itself features a dirt loop with bermed edges and smooth bumps called “rollers,” which riders use to gain momentum or “pump.”

The active track is meant to be ridden by bicycle, skateboard, scooter or roller skates.
