Patrick Mannion’s support of Central Current is motivated by his deep and abiding belief in the media’s irreplaceable role in educating our community and holding our leaders accountable. He strongly believes that freedom of speech and freedom of conscience must be thoroughly embodied in our local reporting and how we serve the Central New York community.

Mannion’s career has spanned multiple leadership roles in business and community service throughout Central New York. He retired in March 2020 as vice chair of Columbian Financial Group, an insurance and financial services corporation. He also served as president, chair and CEO of Unity Mutual Life Insurance in Syracuse until its merger with Columbian. He is former chair of CenterState CEO and the Syracuse Regional Airport Authority, current chair of the Crouse Health System, and is a founding member of the Onondaga Environmental Institute.

Mannion is also an active volunteer with several nonprofit and community organizations including his home parish of Immaculate Conception Church in Fayetteville, the Syracuse Catholic Diocese Bishop’s Foundation and the Partnership for Franciscan Ministries.

Other boards he has served on include Syracuse 20/20, the Urban League of Onondaga County, Rosamond Gifford Charitable Trust, March of Dimes and the Media Unit. In addition, he is a volunteer of the Fayetteville Fire Department where he is a firefighter, emergency medical technician, lieutenant and the public information officer.
