About 75 people gathered Saturday for a rally and march for safe housing as a part of the Stop The Slumlords: Safe Housing For All! campaign.

The event, hosted by the Syracuse Tenants Union (STU) and Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), began in Clinton Square featuring tenant speakers and a march from Clinton Square to Salt City Market and back.

Marchers are shown moving down Salina Street toward the market.

The Syracuse Tenants Union called on the Syracuse Common Council to pass STU’s Rental Registry Proposal to hold slumlords accountable; opt into Good Cause Eviction to keep the community housed; and fund and conduct a vacancy study for the Emergency Tenant Protection Act (ETPA) rent stabilization.
