In recognition of Black History Month, Forging Our Community’s United Strength (FOCUS) Greater Syracuse, invites the public to a virtual forum about Harriet Tubman’s legacy.
The event, “Aunt Harriet: Reflections on the Life and Legacy of Harriet Tubman” is scheduled to take place on Friday, Feb. 17 at noon.
The forum will include personal and historical accounts of Tubman’s legendary activism and radical contributions to society, told by Tubman’s relatives.
Two of her descendants will be featured: Michele Jones Galvin, co-author of Beyond the Underground: Aunt Harriet, Moses of Her People is Tubman’s great-great-great niece and Marc Jones, president and CEO of Dreissing Apparel Inc. and Fan Hands, LLC., is her great-great-great nephew.
The event will be moderated by Evelyn Ingram, director of community relations at Wegmans food market of the Central New York region.
