“Ovens Resting” at Columbus Baking Company at 502 Pearl St. in Syracuse is this week’s Photo of the Week by Michael Greenlar.
Greenlar posted the photo of Columbus bakery to the Nostalgic Syracuse Facebook page. It has since earned 900 likes and nearly 70 shares.
Syracusans past and present noted they could “smell the fresh bread baking,” and recalled how it is hard to make it home without taking a nibble from a loaf of Columbus bread.
The bakery is popular, especially this time of year when lines go out the door during the holidays. The bakery was established in 1895.
Columbus Baking Company posted on Facebook it “sold out” at 11:49 a.m. on the day before Thanksgiving, after opening at 6 a.m.
The normal hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day.
