Right, Winter Rhodes greets Bre Michael, both of Syracuse, as Skylar Sorenson, of Syracuse, left, watches the Honey for the Bees musical performance at the Manlius Pride Fest.

This year’s Pride Fest took place at Seneca Street Brew Pub, located at 315 East Seneca St.

The festival, which pub owners Brooke and Heidi Menikheim brought back for a third time, featured pride beer, music, dancers, food trucks, magicians, LGBTQ+ artists, a dunk tank, drag queens, clowns, community vendors and more.

The first Pride marches in the U.S. happened on June 28, 1970, one year after the start of the 1969 Stonewall, when police raided a Manhattan bar called the Stonewall Inn. The days-long rebellion helped lead to the present-day LGBTQ civil rights movement. Eventually, June became recognized as Pride Month, with the federal government first recognizing it in 1999.
